RIT SCBA Emergencies are more complex than you think! 👨🏻‍🚒⚠️

Air is one of the essential things a trapped or lost firefighter must have. Managing these potential issues requires you to be able to both THINK through the problem and then carry out the proper SKILL to resolve it.

There are several kinds of SCBA emergencies that we can experience:

➡️ Low on/out of air.
➡️ Mask damaged or missing.
➡️ Low-pressure failures.
➡️ High-pressure failures.

This can involve SCBA procedures such as:

🔥 Buddy breathing
🔥 Mask swaps
🔥 Regulator swaps
🔥 Supplied air connections
🔥 Quick-fill connections

As this video from a class a few years ago demonstrates - when in low visibility with your gloves on, in one of the most stressful situations of your life - this can be a daunting task. These skills must be practiced regularly, hoping you will never have to use them.
