Skills & Tactics for the Inside and Outside Teams

Truck company work is notoriously dynamic and requires mindful firefighters who can pivot quickly and operate with limited supervision. We’ll discuss how to best accomplish these duties with street, smart, fireground proven skills and tactics.

This program dives into the design of truck companies - including setting up
the crew, task and tool assignments, and modes of operation. We’ll cover both
the inside and outside teams through a combination of classroom and hands-on training.

This classroom portion is available as a 4-hour in-person seminar (typically preceding 1-2 days of HOT) or an online course. The online course may be taken as 2 separate courses (Inside & Outside teams) or bundled together.

There are 4 principal duties the inside team must perform. In the first half of our truck company series, we’ll discuss how to build your company to effectively and aggressively accomplish the top 4 missions of the inside team.

The Outside Team

To be most effective, members of the outside truck must be able to think quickly and critically to analyze the building, fire scenario, and other operations to determine the most effective and appropriate actions, and their order of priority. This training program will discuss essential tips, skills, and tactics to effectively and aggressively accomplish the mission of the outside team.

In-Person Seminars

The Aggressive Firefighting Truck Company Operations training program is designed in approximately 4-hour segments that can be combined to build the exact operational training your department needs, ranging from 2 hours to several days. The first training session is typically a 4-hour classroom seminar, followed by hands-on skills stations. This can also be combined with any of our other programs for a 100% classroom-based training day.

The 4-hour seminar can also be completed online in advance of our instructors arrival to maximize hands-on training time for your members.

Hands-On Training

Our hands-on training days are highly customizable to your department needs. The Aggressive Firefighting Truck Company Operations training program can be anywhere from 1-3 days of training comprised of a 4 hour seminar (in-person or online) and the skills stations of your choice. The HOT days may also be customized to include skills stations of your choosing from various different training areas (Engine Company Operations, Aerial Operations, Command, RIT, etc.).
